Celebrating the achievements of our children and young people

Children looked after awards - group taking photo

Harrow’s young people do amazing things every day (sometimes at the face of adversity).

At a special awards ceremony on Thursday 15 February we celebrated the achievements and successes of our children looked after.

There were so many young people being recognised for excellent school attendance, working hard in their lessons, achieving fantastic results, taking part in extracurricular activities, trying new things and overcoming difficulties.

Awards were presented by the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ramji Chauhan, Cllr Hitesh Karia and staff from children’s services. Young people were awarded for a range of achievements including commitment for trying new things, academic excellence, resilience when faced with challenges. Photos were also taken by an award winner, Toby who has excelled in photography and thriving with his passion for photography.

Cllr Hitesh Karia, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said:

“I am really proud of children who are in our care. Very often they will have gone through a difficult period in their life and thanks to the work of our social workers, they are helping turn their lives around for a better future. The awards highlight how amazing our young people are and that despite hardship, they are excelling at school. I hope they are also proud of their achievements and I’d like to thank our children’s service for making a true difference to the lives of our young people.”
