Report a blocked drain

Private property issues

Drains on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. This includes manholes and blocked drains. We are not responsible for such issues and will not be able to help.

Sewers, surface water, and foul water are the responsibility of Thames Water. They are the sewerage authority in the borough.

If you have a blockage with your surface or foul water pipes or drains, it is advisable to contact Thames Water. They can check their assets which connect to your property - not within your property. Then they can clear them if necessary.

If Thames Water are not responsible you may need to contact a private professional drainage company. They will be able to inspect and clear the drainage within your property.

Highway drainage issues

The Council Highway Authority is only responsible for surface water drainage on the council's roads. This primarily means roadside and footway gullies, that are maintained by the council.

Surcharging gullies is water that is flowing out of a gully. This is not due to a blocked gully but is a sewer capacity issue (hydraulical overloading). It means the sewer is full and can not drain any more water.
