Apprenticeships: Crafting Careers, Boosting Businesses!

We’ve helped place more than 60 apprentices across the borough to further their career and support local businesses to thrive.

Through mentorship, guidance and training many have upskilled and moved onto permanent roles. We’re also helping local businesses by covering the cost of apprenticeship qualifications, and since April 2023 have provided £58,000 of funding to help employers. In September 2023, we helped Cheeky Chums Day Nursery to fund the training of one of their apprentices to a Level 5: Early Years Lead Practitioner.

Nupur Bahadur, owner of Cheeky Chums Day Nursery (pictured in middle) said:

“As a local business, we have benefited greatly from the apprenticeship program sponsored by the Council. It has allowed us to train and develop our workforce, contributing to the growth and sustainability of our business.”

If you’re a local business, looking to upskill your team or recruit for a new role, Apprenticeships are a great way to develop your existing workforce. Not only do they bring new talent, but they also boost employee motivation and productivity for the whole team.

Cllr Norman Stevenson, Portfolio Holder for Business, Employment and Property said:

“I’m delighted with the success of our apprenticeship programme and the positive impact it has had on both individuals and local businesses.

“Not only has it alleviated financial burdens for businesses, it has also ensured skilled workforces that are able to meet the needs of the community.

“Helping local businesses is something I am passionate about. As a Council, we will continue doing all that we can to help boost Harrow’s small businesses.”
