Arranging a burial or cremation

The process and fees differ depending on the type of arrangement you choose.

Arranging a burial

To arrange a full burial or a burial of cremated remains, you will need to:

If you will be using an existing or reserved grave, you will also need to provide us with the:

  • grave number
  • name of the deceased
  • last date of a burial
  • name of the registered owner (if known)

In most cases, your funeral director can help you make the needed arrangements. This includes help with the funeral and buying a grave.

The following cemeteries are full:

  • Eastcote Lane
  • Paines Lane
  • Wealdstone
  • Harrow.

Harrow residents can use burial plots at Carpenders Park Cemetery which is managed by Brent Council. For more information visit Brent Council's website.

Muslim burials

We offer Muslim burial plots at these cemeteries:

  • Harrow Weald Cemetery, Clamp Hill, Stanmore
  • Carpenders park Cemetery, Oxhey Lane.

We have Greek Orthodox faith burial plots at Pinner New Cemetery.

Burials on private land

It is possible to have a funeral and burial on private land, including your garden. For more information, see our burials on private land page.

Option to buy a grave space

There are no grave spaces at our cemeteries, so new purchases are closed. This means that if you bought an option that expires within 10 years of sale, you cannot renew it.

Exclusive right of burial

People who buy graves get a deed. The deed gives them the right to bury someone in that grave. At the time of sale, it is also mandatory that the memorial rights are purchased.

Arranging a cremation 

The London Borough of Harrow doesn't own a crematorium. Harrow residents can use Breakspear Crematorium. It is located Ruislip in Hillingdon. Contact Breakspear Crematorium for more information.

Burials for cremated remains

You can bury cremated remains at the following Harrow cemeteries:

  • Wealdstone Cemetery, Byron Road, Wealdstone
  • Harrow Cemetery, Pinner Road, Harrow
  • Eastcote Lane Cemetery, Eastcote Lane, South Harrow
  • Pinner New Cemetery, Pinner.
