General Election

On Thursday 4 July 2024, electors in Harrow will have the opportunity to choose their Members of Parliament. There are two constituencies in Harrow:

  • Harrow East
  • Harrow West

Eligibility

You can only vote if you are registered. You can register if:

  • you are 16 or over (but you cannot vote until your 18th birthday)
    AND
  • you are a British, Irish or Commonwealth Citizen.

Citizens of the European Union cannot vote in the General Election.

Polling Station

You can find your polling station here.

Voter ID Requirement: Like the recent the Greater London  Authority  Elections, voters will need to show photo ID to vote at a polling station. See further details about voter ID.

Postal Voting

Once registered, should you wish to vote by post for the General Election, a completed postal vote application form must reach our office by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. The quickest way to apply for a Postal Vote is by visiting.

If you do not post your postal ballot in time for them to arrive by polling day, you can take it to any polling station within the Parliamentary Constituency by 10pm on Thursday 4 July 2024. When you do this, you will now need to fill in a short form. There will be a limit on the number of postal votes a person can hand in at a polling station – they will not be allowed to hand in more than five postal ballot packs for other electors plus their own.

The same rules apply to dropping off Postal Votes at the Council Office. If you wish to drop off your postal vote to the Council Office, please email absent.voting@harrow.gov.uk between 9am and 5pm.

Proxy Voting

Once registered, should you wish to vote by proxy for the General Election, a completed proxy vote application form must reach our office by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024, unless you already have a postal vote in which case the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. The quickest way to apply for a proxy vote is via Gov.uk.

Electors are only be able to act as a proxy for up to 2 people living in the UK (or a maximum of 4 people, with 2 people living in the UK and 2 people registered as living overseas). Further information on proxy voting can be found by visiting our Proxy voting page.

Overseas Electors

Changes to the law mean that British citizens living abroad are now eligible to register to vote in UK General Elections, regardless of how long they’ve been living outside the UK. Overseas electors will need to ensure that they have either appointed a proxy to vote on their behalf or apply for a postal vote to enable them to vote from abroad. Hatch End, Pinner and Pinner South Wards

Please note that the wards of Hatch End, Pinner and Pinner South fall within constituency of Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner. This constituency is administered by Hillingdon Council. Please note that all electoral registration, postal and proxy applications should still be submitted to Harrow Electoral Services. If you apply online, your application will be sent to the relevant office for processing. information can be found on Hillingdon Council's elections web pages.

Queensbury Ward London Borough of Brent

Please note that the Queensbury Ward of the London Borough of Brent falls within the constituency of Harrow East. This constituency is administered by the London Borough of Harrow. Please note that all electoral registration, postal and proxy applications should still be submitted to Brent Electoral Services. If you apply online, your application will be sent to the relevant office for processing. Further information can be found on Brent Council's elections web pages.
