London Borough of Harrow has been allocated £1.47 million from the Department of Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund. The Council is using this to help vulnerable households with the cost of living.
How we will use the funding
- Free school meals (FSM) during the school holidays for Autumn 2024 and Spring 2025 terms. People who get Free School Meals qualify for this.
- Application Scheme run by Citizens Advice Harrow to help people who are struggling with the cost of living and/or are at crisis point (see below)
- Information and advice through the Conversation Café.
- Payments or vouchers for pensioners who get Council Tax Support but don't get any other passported benefits.
- Vouchers for care leavers moving to independent accommodation. Those eligible will receive this support. There is no need to apply
- Food Support from HelpHarrow
- Outreach work with Harrow communities providing ongoing advice and support
- Supporting residents with rent arrears to get their rent arrangements in better shape. The council will directly contact those eligible for this support
