We’ve launched a draft local plan to help shape the future of development in Harrow.
An eight-week consultation is now open to gather your views and opinions. The consultation (formally known as Regulation 18 consultation) is the first opportunity for the public to comment on the proposals. The consultation will run until 25 April.
Harrow's new Local Plan aims to preserve the suburban character of our borough. It will ensure that development is located in the right areas, is of a high quality, and contributes positively. This involves strategically placing higher density developments in the most suitable areas and championing exceptional architectural standards.
The new Local Plan will commit the council and developers to the sensible construction of appropriately located homes needed by our residents, ensuring that each integrates into the community and is supported by enhanced infrastructure.
Councillor Marilyn Ashton, Deputy Leader of the Council, and Portfolio Holder for Planning & Regeneration, said:
"I am passionate about protecting our suburbs and preserving the character of our borough. It gives me great pleasure to welcome this consultation on our new Draft Local Plan for Harrow. Residents always tell me about their concerns on developments in the borough. Once adopted it will be used to guide and shape development in Harrow over the next 15-20 years.”
“I would encourage you to take the time to read through this important document, attend consultation events and respond through our consultation exercise. This is your chance to have your say and be part of our plans to restore pride in Harrow. Your comments will be invaluable in helping formulate the final version of our Local Plan.”
