It’s been a busy week for our active travel team and their buddy, Hip Hoppy the hare.
Touring some of our schools they’ve been encouraging our younger residents to walk to school, advocating cleaner, greener ways of travel.
At Elmgrove, a year 6 pupil won a road safety banner design competition. They were congratulated by Cllrs David Ashton, Cllr Hitesh Karia and the Deputy Mayor Cllr Anjana Patel. Schools across the borough took part and the winning design will now be displayed outside the school to encourage drivers to reduce their speed and drive safely outside the school. The banner is also available to all schools in Harrow.
Walk to school week also ended with a special visit from Team GB athletes. 400m sprinters Louise Evans and Victoria Ohuruogu visited Elmgrove School last Friday, 24 May. They spoke about their inspiring journey to success and tips on reaching their goals. Together, with our active travel mascot, Hip Hoppy the Hare, they inspired our younger residents to keep moving and stay active.
