It’s disgusting, it’s criminal and we hate seeing it happening in our borough.
- CCTV camera’s catch fly-tippers in action
- Campaign launched to find and fine those blighting
- Help us find them and fine them
We’re taking a new approach to fight back on filthy fly-tippers who show no pride in their communities. In the last year (2023/24) 1147 fines were issued to those found fly-tipping.
Our CCTV cameras are catching these offenders seen dumping waste illegally on streets and open spaces. They’ll be featured in the council’s new wall of shame and also witness appeal boards which are going up in these hotspot areas.
In our first monthly roundup, fly-tippers were caught shamelessly dumping waste on Pinner Road, Constable Gardens and Park Way. You can find details of when and where occurrences took place at on our wall of shame page.
If you know who they are, email our enforcement team at fly-tipping@harrow.gov.uk.
Cllr Pritesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Cleaner Streets and Public Safety said:
“Like our residents, we are fed up with seeing fly-tipping happen on our streets. There are no excuses for it. These people show no respect for our borough, and we are determined to find them and fine them.
“We’ve already increased fines which now start at £1000, and our officers are checking all reported fly-tips. Our CCTV cameras are now also catching fly-tippers in action. Where there’s evidence, we will take action including taking these people to court.
“Our wall of shame asks for your help in identifying those individuals where we have been unable to do so.”
The council’s website will be updated each month with an appeal for information. These will also be shared across social media. These are cases where all resources have been exhausted to find these fly-tippers and where we require help from the public.
If you are struggling with your waste or are unsure there is plenty of information on our website. Our CA site is free for Harrow residents where you can book two slots a day, we offer one free annual bulky waste collection, fortnightly recycling and general waste collections and a weekly food waste collection. Our partners from TRAID also collect textiles and clothing for free. There is really no excuse to dump illegally. www.harrow.gov.uk/recycling
