We’re excited to announce the launch of our Family Hubs network. A new approach that offers support to families closer to home - in the heart of their communities.
- New hubs transform how parents and children get support
- Bringing care professionals, the NHS, and community partners in one place
- More support, closer to home and easy access to help
Our Children’s centres have been transformed to be more than just a space for children to play and learn. The Family Hubs network brings together children’s, health and maternity services and voluntary organisations in key locations across Harrow.
It is now easier for families to access the support they need. Whether that’s guidance or health support – our hubs and friendly staff are here to help. Integrating our services means we can work with the family to identify and solve issues before they escalate.
On Monday 3 February, councillors, health providers and voluntary services came together to celebrate the launch of the Family Hub network. Families will continue to enjoy the excellent facilities with the addition of further support and access to council and health services.
Cllr Hitesh Karia, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said:
“This is a new chapter for Harrow and our families. Everyone should be able to access the help they need when they need it.
“The Family Hubs network puts residents first by going into their communities to support families in need of support. These are welcoming places that offer excellent services – and now with our partners from care, health and the voluntary sector.
“It’s been great to speak to many families who use the family hubs and hear about how our services are enhancing their lives. By working together we will help families thrive and tackle any issues head-on so every child has the best start in life.”
Our Family Hub venues are Cedars, Pinner, Whitefriars, Hillview, Wealdstone, Elmgrove, Kenmore Park, Chandos, and Gange. The Wealdstone Centre which supports pre-natal to 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities.
This is one of 30 Flagship Actions set out in the council’s corporate plan to restore pride in Harrow. Under this is three key priorities – a council that puts residents first, a borough that is clean and safe and a place where those in need are supported.
Our new Family Hubs are already making a difference to parents and carers and their children.
Services include talk and play sessions, family rooms, health visiting, maternity support, parenting advice and support, and informative sessions on health and well-being. Also available are checks on 2-year-olds, weaning groups, fathers’ groups, speech and language advice, cooking classes and sensory rooms for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
