As part of our long-term transport strategy, we’re looking at expanding our school streets – and we want your feedback.
We have launched three consultations on proposals for new School Streets around Earlsmead Primary School, St Anselm’s Primary School and Bentley Wood High School.
School streets reduce traffic around schools during peak times and make it safer and easier for pupils and their families to use public transport, walk, scoot or cycle. The scheme is also important for our travel plans, which aim to improve the health of Harrow’s children and young people. Local residents living in the School Street zone and blue badge holders would be exempt from the timed restrictions, by applying for a free virtual permit for their vehicle(s).
Harrow currently has three successful School Street schemes which have transformed roads around the schools, making it safer and more pleasant for everyone. The schemes are popular with children, parents and local residents, and have been subject to extensive consultation.
We are putting the views of residents first by testing local support for a School Street, we will only move forward with a scheme if there is clear local support for it.
The consultations will run on MyHarrow Talk until 2 April 2025. There are drop-in events for each scheme and residents and businesses within the vicinity of the schools will receive newsletters asking them to take part.
