An ambitious and exciting plan for the future of Harrow was agreed at full council last night.
- £900,000 into street cleansing
- £6m over the next 3 years in parks and increasing the number of Green Flag parks
- More than doubling investment into roads and pavements from £6m to £14m
- Last night the council approved its budget and priorities for the coming year
After another successful year of delivering key flagship actions, the London Borough of Harrow has set out its corporate plan for 2025 -2026. At the meeting, the annual budget for 2025-26 and the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) for the next three years were also approved protecting essential services and investing in the things that matter most to Harrow residents.
This year, £900,000 will be invested into street cleansing to keep streets, high streets and parks clean and tidy. The spend on roads and pavement repairs this year will more than double from £6m to £14m (£42m over three years). For the first time in a generation the number of green flag parks will increase from 6 to 8 (with a ninth due for 2026)- and to keep our parks clean large bins will be trialled with more frequent collections, including weekends, over the summer periods.
The plan continues its commitment to restore pride in Harrow with three priorities being central to delivering a well-run Council that provides good value for money. These are: A council that puts residents first; a borough that is clean and safe; and a place where those in need are supported.
There are 30 flagship actions which include helping residents access council services easily by re-opening a phone line and a one stop shop at Gayton Road; taking stronger action on fly-tipping; and continuing to support those most in need of help with Conversation Café and our family hubs.
