Delivering more than 1,000 thoughtfully designed apartments in Harrow, Poets’ Corner will be a vibrant, welcoming neighbourhood with new spaces to relax and meet friends, and safer streets.
Building on the strength of existing communities, the partnership between the London Borough of Harrow and Wates Residential will deliver homes that Harrow people can afford and will want to live in. More than 100 of the properties delivered in phase one will be new council homes, subject to funding, this number could be doubled.
This development will transform the former council headquarters on Station Road into a new thriving, sustainable community including generous public space and potential for a new health centre.
The design of these homes will blend seamlessly with the surrounding area, with building heights stepping down towards existing streets and creating generous new open spaces including a brand-new green flag park. This development will complement and add to Harrow’s identity to restore pride in Harrow, creating a place new and established residents can call home.
Cllr Marilyn Ashton, Deputy Leader of the London Borough of Harrow, Planning & Regeneration Portfolio Holder, said:
“Poets’ Corner represents a major step forward in our vision for a revitalised Harrow. This development will provide much-needed genuinely affordable homes for Harrow including new council homes, beautiful green spaces, and improved local infrastructure to benefit current and future residents”.
Leigh Johnson, Regional Development Director, Wates Residential, added:
“We are proud to continue our partnership with the London Borough of Harrow. Poets’ Corner is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine this historic site into a thriving, connected community. Our vision is to create a place where people can live, work, and come together.
“It is rooted in Harrow’s rich heritage but designed for the future. Through high-quality homes, beautiful public spaces, and a commitment to sustainability, we are aiming to shape a neighbourhood that fosters wellbeing and opportunity for all.”
The site, just a few minutes' walk from Harrow & Wealdstone station and midway between the town centres of Wealdstone and Harrow, is served by five bus routes and direct rail links to central London. Strong public transport connections provide an opportunity to promote active travel through improved walking and cycling routes.
Everyone is invited to join a public information session on Saturday 22 March, at Katie’s Statue, Station Road, HA1 1LF to view the designs and ask questions of the project team. Free children’s craft activities will be on offer.
