Harrow charges up with new EV charging points

EV charging

It’s electrifying news for electric or hybrid car drivers! You’ll soon enjoy an easy, affordable, and convenient way to charge their vehicles – right next to your home.

  •  100 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging points are being installed across Harrow
  • Plug in, get powered up quickly and hit the road
  • London Borough of Harrow partners with Trojan Energy to deliver innovative on-street EV charging

The London Borough of Harrow has teamed up with Trojan Energy to bring 100 brand new EV chargers to streets across Harrow.

These charge points come with lots of benefits. They are hidden when not in use, so there’s no pavement clutter or trip hazards. With fast charging of up to 22kW, you’ll get powered up quickly. And there’s no apps or card needed. All you need to do is plug in with your personal adapter and once ready you can hit the roads.

Cllr David Ashton, Cabinet Member for Finance and Highways said:

This will be welcoming news for residents. Not everyone has a driveway, so this is  significant infrastructure that will help those charge their car near their home. It’s great for the environment, great for sustainable travel and doesn’t clutter the streets.

“This is one of many ways we are putting residents first, by making it easier for those thinking about switching to electric or hybrid.”

The project is supported by funding from the government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS). This enables Harrow to invest in smart, future-proof charging solutions. The full programme is due to complete later in the year.

Ian Mackenzie, CEO of Trojan Energy said:

We’re pleased to be partnering with the London Borough Harrow to deliver our clutter-free on-street EV charging to more residents. At Trojan Energy, our mission is to ensure everyone can benefit from the transition to electric vehicles, particularly those without access to off-street parking.

“This collaboration marks another meaningful step towards making reliable, accessible charging a standard feature of streets across the UK.”

This ambitious rollout, which started this week, is a big step in Harrow’s climate strategy to promote sustainable transport and make EV charges more accessible to Harrow People (and their cars!)
