This is a register of children and young people in Harrow with disabilities.
By law we are required to keep a register of disabled children living in the Borough. Our legal obligations come from the Children's Act 1989.
For the register, the definition of disability is taken from the Equalities Act 2010. It can include:
- Autism or Asperger’s syndrome
- ADHD
- Cerebral Palsy
- Dyspraxia
- Deaf, blind or deafblind
- Mobility problems
- Learning disability
- Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
- Undiagnosed medical conditions
- Terminal illness
We collect the following information:
- Full Name
- Address
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- First Language
- Telephone Number
- GP Name and Address
- Child’s Special Needs Details
Why do we have a register, and what is it used for?
It helps us develop services for children and young people with disabilities. We are currently reviewing how else we may use the information to benefit our young people.
