Harrow Association of Disabled People (HAD)

HAD is led by, run by, and provides services for disabled people. Our vision is to bring about inclusion and equality for all disabled people, in all areas of life.

HAD services include:

  • Advocacy: Providing support to get your voice heard. Advocates help defend your rights to access services. They ensure your views are considered regarding decisions that affect your wellbeing.
  • Appointeeship: An Appointee's role is to help manage an individual’s state benefits. They help to pay their bills. They need to register and it can be someone like a relative, friend or solicitor.
  • Autism Mentoring & Outreach Service (AMOS): Promotes full inclusion of Neurodiverse people in all aspects of society
  • Autism Service Aspiring Potential (ASAP): Provides acknowledgement, information, contact and support to adults with Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Brokerage Service: Support to manage personal budgets and direct payments
  • Changes Nightclub: Nightclub for people with learning difficulties & their friends.
  • Deaf services: Services for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Services include BSL courses and hearing aid maintenance.
  • Direct Support Service: support and advice with all aspects of Direct Payments and Personalisation.
  • Harrow Campaigns: Campaigning for the inclusion of Disabled people
  • Independent Living & Training: Independence is about making choices, and making the best of your abilities to live your life as you want. Some of our services are free, others can be purchased using a personal budget.
  • RADAR Keys: Buy a RADAR Key to unlock accessible toilets.
  • Red Brick Café:  A café in Wealdstone, run by HAD serving healthy affordable food. It provides students with learning difficulties the opportunity to develop greater independent living skills.
  • SWiSH: SWiSH provide advice on housing, health, community activities, welfare benefits, deaf services, employment and training.
  • Training for work and employment: Supporting disabled people towards employment
  • Welfare benefits: Assistance with all types of Welfare Benefit claims and appeals
