Report a blocked drain

There are different ways to report drainage issues depending on the location and type of drain.

Drainage on private property

Drains on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. This includes manholes and blocked drains. We are not responsible for these and will not be able to help.

Sewers, surface water and foul water

The sewerage authority in Harrow is Thames Water.

They are responsible for sewers, surface water and foul water.

If you have a blockage, contact Thames Water. They can check their assets which connect to your property, but not within your property. Then they can clear them if necessary.

If Thames Water are not responsible, you may need to contact a private professional drainage company. They will be able to inspect and clear the drainage within your property.

Report a blocked gulley

A drainage gully

The Council is responsible for gullies like this.

We are responsible for drainage on Harrow's roads. We maintain roadside and footway gullies like the one pictured.

If water is flowing out of a gulley, it is a surcharging gulley. This happens when the sewer is full and cannot drain any more water. This is a sewer capacity issue (hydraulical overloading) and should be reported to Thames Water.

To report a blocked gully please email us the following information:

  • Location of the gully
  • Description of the issue
  • Photo of the issue (optional)
