Influencing how the council works
This page explores how the following groups can work with and influence the council:
- people with learning disabilities, and their family member
- autistic people, and their family members
- carers
Harrow provides a range of ways to get involved and help shape our services. You can connect with us online via Teams calls or attend meetings.
Listed below are several groups people can join to share their views. These include Task and Finish and Working Groups. This is part of the work of the learning, disabilities, autism (LDA) Strategy Outcomes Framework:
Reignite Employment Workshop
This group seeks to increase the variety and quality of employment opportunities for people in Harrow.
The group is reviewing and revising the pathway to sustainable employment. Current aims include improving and increasing roles for those who can access:
- volunteering
- internships
- apprenticeships
- training and employment
Supported Accommodation Group
This group seeks to increase the variety and quality of supported accommodation options for people in Harrow.
The group is reviewing and revising the pathway to supported accommodation. Current aims are to prepare people for progression to adulthood and independent living. The services examined range from educational residential placements, through to extra care in later adult life.
Day Opportunities and Meaningful Activities
This group seeks to increase the variety and quality of day opportunities and activity options for people in Harrow.
New models of providing activity and support, beyond building-based services, are being reviewed. This is to ensure people have a greater choice and opportunity to realise their ambitions.
All the Task and Finish Groups and Working Groups report to two strategic groups, which meet quarterly. This keeps everyone on-track and serves to inform:
- directors
- Harrow’s Portfolio Holders for Adult and Children Services
- partnership and wellbeing boards
- Harrow Health and Care Executive
